Early Medieval (mid 5th to mid 6th centuries) small-long brooch: The headplate and bow remains, although the bow is incomplete. The headplate is rectagnular with a circular perforation in each corner. There is an obliquely angled groove cutting across each perforation. The edges of the plate are decorated with stamped crescents. The reverse of the plate has a vertical, perforated lug which has iron corrosion around it. The handle has a hexagonal cross section, and terminates with a trefoil suspension loop, with a collar below it. There are no marks on any of the six sides to aid orientation during use. Post Medieval cloth seal: The lead cloth seal is composed of a sub-circular disc, which has an integral flattened stud on the reverse. On one edge there is a fragment of a ribbon which would have originally lead to the second disc, which is missing. The outer surface of the disc has a prominent 'A' with an annulet below the cross bar, with an annulet either side and above the A. The surface of the seal is oxidised forming a cream coloured surface. It measures 23.78mm long, 18.90mm wide and 3.52mm thick. It weighs 6.37g.
