A medieval silver coin: a half groat of Henry VII (1485-1509), facing bust issue type IIIb, Canterbury mint, issued by the King and Archbishop Morton jointly, with a tun initial mark (AD 1486 - 1504). The coin is very clipped. There is a die error with the reverse legend spelled CIVITAS CASTOR instead of CANTOR. See North (1991) Volume II number 1712 on page 102 and compare SWYOR-0ABBA5. It is 17.3mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and 1.1g.

A Medieval silver coin; a half groat probably of Edward IV, first reign (AD 1461 - 1470), light coinage (AD 1461 - 1464). Initial mark illegible, no marks by neck, so probably type VI. Probably Canterbury Royal mint. See North Volume II (1991), number 1589 on page 88. The coin is 20.6mm diameter, 1.1mm thick and 1.09g. It has been bent and straightened, causing some stress fractures, and is quite crumpled making the lettering very difficult to read, especially the mint name.

See North Volume 2 (1991), page 76, number 1448. The coin is 22.1mm diameter, 0.7mm thick and weighs 1.63g. There is a scetion of the flan missing from 3o'clock to 7o'clock on the obverse, and there is a crack in the flan starting at the 9o'clock position and running inwards and downwards for 8.3mm.

Part of the edge of the flan is missing between 12 and 3 o'clock on the obverse. The break seems to be ancient. There are also some crackes in the edge of the coin. The bust is worn and the reverse long cross is visible on the obverse ownign to "ghosting". The end of the reverse legend is also worn. The coin is 22.1mm diameter, 0.8mm thick and 2.22g.
