A silver Medieval coin; a groat of Henry VI, first reign (AD 1422 - 1461), annulet issue (AD 1422 - 1427), probably young bust, so dating from AD 1425 - 1427. Mint of Calais. See North number 1427 on page 74 of North, Volume 2 (1991). The coin is bent and has been pierced between 11 and 12 o'clock on the obverse. The hole is circular, 2.8mm diameter, and was worked from the obverse. The displaced metal has been neatly smoothed. The coin is 26.5mm diameter, 1mm thick and 3.46g.

A Medieval silver coin; a groat, probably of Edward IV, first reign, light coinage dating from AD 1464 - 1470. The coin is bent and part of the edge is missing, as well as being clipped or struck on a small flan. The obverse is double struck, making the crown appear to be slipping to the right. The reverse is unusual because the start of the legend (POSVI) is positioned above the fourth quarter of the inner circle (DON). The P has an exaggerated base serif and there is fishtail lettering, but much of the obverse is illegible. The coin is 23.9mm diameter, 0.5mm thick and weighs 1.19g. …
