A copper-alloy 'beehive' thimble constructed from sheet metal, probably dating from 1400-1500 AD. It is squashed and there is damage to the rim but was originally dome shaped, with no division between crown and sides. Unusually, this thimble either has a double layered wall, or is in fact two thimbles which were stacked one inside the other when deposited. Two closely fitting layers of copper alloy are visible at the rim, most noticeable where inner component has been squashed resulting in folds in the metal. The pits covering the walls and top are small, round and evenly spaced. Ther…

The hilt plate is bent at the pointed end. The object is corroded with a mid-green patina where it survives but it is largely covered in off-white corrosion product. No decoration is discernible. Such hilt-plates tend to be given a 15th-…

The bust is slightly recessed inside the headdress; the forehead, eyes, nose and lips are moulded. The bust then tapers slightly towards the chin.
