A cast copper-alloy medieval to post-medieval chafing dish drop handle. In plan, the handle frame is sub-trapezoidal with rounded corners, the frame is rectangular in cross-section. It has three concave sides and one shorter straight side that around which is a copper-alloy attachment lug. The attachment lug is sub-oval in plan and rectangular in cross-section (25.4 by 15.5 by 9.3mm). It has a short circular rivet with shoulders above at the end that secured it to the side of the dish. The frame has a dark-grey patina with some areas of green corrosion product, as is the lug. There…

An incomplete cast copper alloy leg or foot from a copper alloy vessel probably a skillet or posnet of later medieval date (1300 - 1600). The foot is broadly sub-rectangular in plan tapering in width from the top to the base. In cross section the foot is a triangular shape. The upper edge of the foot is broken with an uneven surface. The base of the foot is irregular with a relatively flat section. The front face has a large vertical D shaped rib extending from the broken top to the base. The reverse of the foot is irregular in shape.

A copper-alloy pot leg of Medieval to early post-Medieval date. The steeply-angled leg has a broadly oval cross section with slightly flattened sides. the foot is flat at the bottom and widens towards the tip. A parallel for this leg - suggested to be from a small cauldron, ewer or jug - was found in excavations in Winchester (Biddle 1990: 956/fig. 293, no. 3397), in a late 15th to early 16th century context. Another similar leg came from an early 15th century context in London (Egan 1998: 166/fig. 132, no. 459) and is recorded as probably being part of a tripod ewer.

An incomplete integral cast copper alloy handle lug, which possibly dates to the 13th to 17th centuries. The rest of the vessel is missing. In plan the lug in broadly square with a bevelled upper face, the reverse is mostly flat with a raised outer edge. In the centre of the lug is an oval perforation which has a maximum internal diameter of 7.6mm. A section of the vessel remains attached to the lug, it is 20.0mm in length and 6.7mm wide, a small fragment remains which is 11.85mm in length and 8.15mm wide.

A broken and incomplete cast copper-alloy cooking vessel leg/foot of medieval or post-medieval date. The leg is broadly sub-rectangular in plan and in cross section is is broadly trapezoidal. The break is old as yellow/green corrosion product covers the break. The base of the foot is sub-trapezoidal with the narrowest edge forming the reverse side. The leg and foot is undecorated on the outer face, there is a horizontal ribbed projection running up the length of the artefact. The surface of the leg has a mottled light-green patina. A zoomorphic cast copper-alloy spout probably from a ewer of later medieval or early post-medieval date. The spout is tubular and terminates in a dog's head with open mouth; the tube spout protrudes from the open mouth (internal diameter: c. 5.55mm). At the other end it curves through ninety degrees downwards, and expands into a long, pointed neck where it would have joined the vessel (it is teardrop shaped in cross-section). The surface that would have joined is covered in file marks. The head has a moulded nose, prominent, squared brow, and rectangular grooved ears that protrude sli…
