Late medieval to early post-medieval lead-tin alloy chape, probably from a dagger scabbard. The cast chape is incomplete, eroded at the mouth (with a length of 27.2mm and a weight of 4.5g). The mouth is somewhat misshapen and would originally have been D-shaped to sub-oval (17.3mm x 13.0mm with a wall thickness of 0.7mm). There is some damage below the mouth, probably incorporating a damaged rivet attachment hole.
