A Medieval, gold gem-set finger ring dating to the 14th century.
The ring has a small bezel that is square in plan and diamond-shaped in profile. The top half of the bezel is shaped into a four-sided pyramid, that has a four-sided pointed diamond embedded that the apex. The lower half of the bezel has four tapering sides that terminate at a flat base. Flanking the sides of the lower section are thin rectangular tabs that led to the hoop with is formed from a simple undecorated circular cross-section band.

A slightly distorted gold finger-ring with external black-letter inscription, of 15th-century date.
The finger-ring is complete and comprises a flat broad band that is engraved on the exterior with highly accomplished floral forms. The decoration consists of six alternating triangular panels. Each panel displays the flower of a lily. These have a central upright stamen that is detailed with crosshatching, encompassed by the petals of the flower which open in a V-shape at the front to expose the centre of the flower. In profile the bezel is biconical with the lower section possessing a longer and more pointed frame than its upper counterpart. Medieval gold ‘strirrup’ ring. The triangular bezel has a dark blue gemstone that has been identified by Raman spectroscopy in the British Museums Department of Scientific Research as corundum, likely sapphire. The band of the ring is distorted, bending inwards and forming a heart-shape. This is most likely accidental damage.
Discussion: Stirrup-shaped ring with gemstones are common Medieval finger-ring types, with several parallels on the PAS database including ESS-B604F3, BH-74051C and NMS-EAE967.

A Medieval gold finger ring dating from the 15th century. It is rectangular in cross-section and would have formed a simple circular hoop be the ring has been split open forming a long, thin and distorted ribbon. The inside edge is undecorated but the edge is engraved with an inscription interspersed with foliate patterns of radiating leaves that have a stem crowned with a bunch of grapes or multi-headed flower. A medieval, gold gem-set finger ring. This has a triple bezel formed from a row of three collets; the side of each collet has a large recessed sub-oval panel bordered by a raised U-shape rim. The two end collets continue this theme with a third corresponding recessed panel at the adjacent terminals. The central collet holds a purple stone that could be an amethyst, this is simply cut with a flat upper surface. The two flanking collets contain a turquoise cabochon.

An incomplete medieval, gold gem-set finger ring. This has a large hollow rectangular bezel with an oval aperture (4.9mm by 2.2mm) and purple stone set within. Flanking the bezel are small flanges that are decorated with a ridged pattern of small parallel lines. The hoop has a D-shaped cross-section and is decorated at the shoulders with a series of engraved lines. In the centre of the shoulders is an oval mount for a stone, one is missing but the other still retains a hemispherical green stone. The remainder of the hoop is undecorated.

The top of the frame has a bevelled outer edge to either side, this combined with a flat base creates a low D-shaped cross-section. There is a circular cross-section constriction on one side for the pin and a rectangular recess on the opposite side that has as the pin rest. A small gold annular brooch with pin still attached that dates to the 13th-14th century. The frame of the brooch is very small epically when compared to contemporary examples with an external diameter of 9mm, and an internal diameter of only 7.5mm. Nonetheless, the top edge of the brooch is still highly decorated with a series of moulded detailing consisting two raised collets at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock on the frame, both have a sub-triangular profile with a mounting for a stone or glass (both now missing) at its apex.
