Late Medieval to Post Medieval c. AD 1450-1700, uniface, lead token or weight, one face bears, in relief, a letter W (or M). The back is plain and it was cast in a single sided mould leaving a flash line around its edge. Diameter 19.2mm, Thickness 3.9mm, Mass 8.72g. The dating of this token is difficult but the form of the letter suggests a Late Medieval or Post Medieval date. The function of these lead discs is also open to doubt. Some may been used as weights (see Egan, 2010, Fig. 232) for which a 14th century date is suggested, or had a religious role, being given to communic…

Two Medieval or Post Medieval, c AD1400-1550, lead stars, each with eight, curving rays, between two of which are three ribs. The faces of the stars bears traces of red paint. Stars of this type were attached, as decoration, to the ceilings of buildings (Egan, 2005, 69-71). The lack of attachment points or holes suggests that they were simply stuck onto wet plaster.
