Medieval silver PAXS type penny of William I (1086-1087) modified into a brooch by the addition of a pin and a catchplate; both of which are now missing. Obverse: PILLELM REX Bust facing crowned and diademed; to right, a sceptre. Reverse: Cross pattee; in each angle, an annulet containing one letter of the word PAXS. The coin has the reverse gilded and there are four circular holes which would have held the hinged pin and catchplate. The reverse of the coin was the front of the brooch,

Fragment, cast two-piece sword chape. Sheet back-plate missing. Open-work decoration with shaped top and knobbed terminal. Decoration consists of open oval at top with moulded horizontal ridge below, with open-work trefoil below. Moulded grooves radiate from trefoil to outer edge. Holes towards edge of chape and around oval. Trace of iron corrosion near knop on inside surface. Distorted and bent.
