A Medieval copper alloy two-piece strap end, probably dating to c. AD 1200-1450. The strap end is tongue shaped in plan, terminating in a squat knop and made of two sheets of copper alloy with the backplate at the terminal end only; the two plates are held together by a crudely punched, seperately made copper alloy rivet. The token depicts an equal armed cross with a diagonal line in each quarter, angled towards the centre. The reverse is plain. Dimensions: diameter 18.3mm; weight 5.2g. Lead tokens had a wide variety of uses and were made locally; they are therefore hard to date precisely and could be Medieval or Post Medieval in date.
