A complete lead spindle whorl from the Medieval period (AD1200-1500). The whorl is made up of a central bi-conical body with a central aperture measuring 8.37mm. It is decorated on both faces with a series of raised lines, which form triangular shapes, and pellets. on one surface the lines appear to be arranged to form a four-pointed star.  The patina of the metal is of a dark cream colouring showing paler where there is some damage. The reverse has a groove that runs around the circumference. There is no decoration. The metal is a whitish-brown colour and is worn. Both surfaces are decorated with raised lines radiating from the central perforation resulting in irregularly shaped trapezoidal cells with between two and three pellets within each.
