A Medieval continental sterling penny of Valeran of Ligny minted at Serain AD1304-66. This is most likely Mayhew type 232 as there appears to be a single pellet stop before LYnI. Obverse description: Crowned bust of the king facing. Obverse inscription: +G[VALIERA:DnS.]DE.LYnI Reverse description: Long cross with 3 pellets in each quarter. Reverse inscription: MOn/ET[A/SER/AY]N Dimensions: diameter: 15.26mm; weight: 0.91g.
