A clipped and modified later Medieval silver penny dating to the reign of Edward IV (1461-1470), first reign 1461-1470, heavy coinage (1461-1465). Dating to the period c.1462-1465. Mint of Durham, local dies. North (1991) No 1543 or 1544. Coin has had the bust intentionally punched out.
Measurements: 17.96mm in diameter (central punch hole 10.21mm in diameter) 0.62mm thick and 0.47g in weight.

A clipped Medieval silver halfgroat of Edward IV, first reign (1461-1470). Coin is very crude, with misplaced and poorly executed lettering. The minmark is uncertain but may be a poorly executed crown.. Prototype is a halfgroat of Edward IV's first reign 'Light Coinage' (1464/5-1470) minted London between 1464-1466, halfgroat class vii, North 1584. The coin is clipped aound its circumference.

Obverse.: Bust crowned. Quatrefoils by neck and trefoils on cusps. Saltire stops in Legend. Legend.: 'ED[W]ARD DI GRA.REX.ANGL.Z FRANC'. Reverse.: Long cross dividing legend in two concentric circles, three pellets in each quarter. Legend.:POSVI/DEVM.A/DIVTOR/EMEVM - CIVI/TAS/LON/DON. Some very Minor nicks, wear and possible clipping around the circumference, but apart from that coin remains very fine.

A cut half of a silver groat likely of Edward IV (first reign 1461 - 1470), Light coinage AD 1464/5 - 1470, Type X groat of North 1577 (Xa) or 1578 (Xb). Minted at London. The coin has been cut in half from roughly 5 o'clock to 11 o'clock, but apart form this the coin has very little damage or ware save for some clipping along the edge from 12-2 o'clock.
Measurement: 24.50mm long (orignal diameter), 11.54mm wide, 1.21mm thick, 1.17g in weight.

Medieval silver Halfgroat of Edward IV, first reign (1461-1470), Minted in Canterbuy (Royal), 'Light Coinage' (1464/5-1470) North 1589 VIII (North 1991, 88). The coin is clipped aound its circumference and particularly worn around the circumference on the obverse obscuring much of the legend. Initial mark unclear, saltires by neck. Some evidence of double striking on reverse with shadow letters behind.
