A sheet white metal coated copper-alloy Medieval strap end dating from the second half of the 14th century. Description: The strap-end is formed from two sheets of copper alloy, held together by two rivets, one at the attachment end and one at lower end just prior to the terminal knop. The sheets sandwich a third piece of copper-alloy a cast forked spacer. A complete and worn Medieval gilt heraldic harness pendant set (c. late 13th - early 14th century). Description: The set is formed from the pendant and harness suspension mount. The pendant is in the form of a square topped shield with a suspension loop at 90° to the plane of the pendant at its apex. An incomplete copper-alloy Medieval (c.AD 1250-1400) D-shaped buckle with narrowed offset strap bar. Description: The buckle is small, with thin bars of which the strap bar is offset. At the opposite end of the frame the loop is swollen with four incised grooves creating ribbed decoration. The decoration wraps the outside edge of the frame. The buckle pin is incomplete but formed from wire wrapped round the bar.. The back of the buckle is flat. A near complete copper-alloy clasp fastener of medieval date, c.1300-1450. Description: The fastener remains as a square bucklesque frame with narrowed and offset 'strap' bars and slightly rounded convex sides. The closure plate is missing and is therefore uncertain if it folding clasp or strap with separate spindle. The clasp plate survives as a folded piece of copper sheet folded around the strap bar with recessed sides. Measurements:12.17mm in diameter and 0.32g in weight. Discussion: The silver soldino of Venice was known as the galyhalpens (galley-halfpence) as it was brought by the annual Venetian trading fleets. The soldino was about the size of English halfpennies and was popular because of a contemporary lack of small change.
