A near complete copper-alloy casket key, probably of Medieval date (AD 1100 - 1500). Description: The key is small with a projecting stem ovate in cross-section. the stem however has been worn down to the point it terminates prior to the outer section of the bit. A flat bit projects from the underside of the stem at 90 degrees and has one rounded cleft in its outermost edge and stepped outer ward. A roughly circular bow loop forms the upper terminal. A disarticulate cast copper-alloy loop from a late Medieval, early post Medieval (c. AD1450-1650) purse bar. Description: The surviving fragment represents only the loop from purse bar and frame. It is an elongated oval suspension loop with an ovate section and at its base has expanded collar. The collar may have some zig-zag decoration but it is to worn to be certain. Below the collar would have been a narrow circular shaft, around which the purse bar would have fitted. An incomplete copper-alloy double-looped spectacle buckle of medieval to post medieval date, c. AD 1350 - 1650. Description: Only one loop remains intact and the pin is missing. The remaining frame consists of one D-shaped loop and D-shaped in cross-section. The outer edge of the frame is bevelled and the back is flat. Measurements: 15.89mm length, 19.47mm wide, 1.87mm thick and 1.28g in weight. Discussion: The type is a ubiquitous find on the PAS database and Whitehead (1996, 54. A complete cast copper-alloy annular single loop buckle dating 1230-1450. Description: The buckle is formed from a large ring shaped frame, circular in cross-section. The pin is is folded around the frame and circular in cross-section. The pin is incomplete although no longer extends to the otherside of the frame. A fragment of cast copper-alloy Medieval key dating from about AD 1200 - 1500. Description: Only the openwork quatrefoil bow survives. At the base is a break leaving one lobe flattened. The break is slightly hollow and rectangular in shape. Each of the inner lobes is bevelled on both sides. it has a mottled green brown patination. Measurements: 24.73mm wide, 24.71mm wide, 3.58mm thick and 4.91g in weight Discussion: The handle is incomplete but is similar to SWYOR-6B1B61 and SF-E65BCC . These are keys of Ward Perkins (1940) London Type VI.
