A complete copper alloy medieval to post medival strap fitting or button. The head of the fitting is biconvex in shape, and each half of the head has eight flat sides. There is a central knop on the top of the head. The stem and loop are integral and extend from the flat back of the head. The stem is rectangular in cross section, and widens slightly towards the loop.The loop is circular and measures 4.1mm in diameter. There is no decoration on the fitting, which has a dark green patina. The fitting measures 24.8mm in length, and 10.9mm in diameter. The stem measures 13.9mm in length, …

A complete medieval copper alloy buckle with composite plate. The buckle frame is oval in shape, with the outer edge widening and forming a triangular point in the centre. The outer edges of the frame are bevelled, and the frame is triangular in cross section. The forked spacer is covered by a rectangular copper alloy sheet folded over. This measures 13.1mm by 14.4mm. The buckle frame is trapeziodal shaped, the outer edge is recessed slightly from the frame and measures 20.1mm in width, the plate bar is narrower at 17.1mm. An incomplete medieval copper alloy strap end. The strap end consists of two rectangular plates, and is possibly composite with a forked spacer inbetween. The plates narrow slightly towards the terminal end which is angled and ends in a pointed protrusion. At the terminal end above the pertrusion is a rivet still in situ. This is slightly off centre. An incomplete copper alloy medieval diamond- or square-shaped brooch, missing its pin. The frame is decorated with a border of punched rings running along the centre of each edge. These edges are bevelled and trapezoidal in cross-section. On one inside corner of the frame is a hole where the pin would have been attached; on the reverse is the remains of an iron rivet. An incomplete medieval or post-medieval copper alloy double loop annular buckle, missing its pin. The buckle is decorated with moulded scalloping around the outer edge which is c.4.4mm wide. The moulded decoration resembles five flower petals. The central pin bar is narrower at 1.9mm and is sub triangular in cross section. The buckle has a brown green patina. The buckle measures 27.3mm in length, 24.8mm in width, and is 2.2mm thick. The buckle weighs 4.11g. The buckle is similar to Whitehead 1996, p.39 nos. 272 and 273, which he dates from c.1450-1550.

A medieval copper alloy buckle plate. The plate consists of a rectangular sheet of metal, folded widthways to attach to the buckle. The fold on the reverse of the plate is approximately half the length of the plate, measuring 12.3mm in length. A central rectangular slot has been cut out on both sides for the attachment. There is iron staining within this slot suggesting the buckle pin was made of iron. At the opposite end on the longer plate there is a rivet hole with the iron rivet still in situ. At the junctions between the arches are diagonal moulded projections. It is engraved with zigzags longitudinally arranged along the centre (traces of gilding are visible here) and along the edges of the upper surface. The curved end has been folded over and the edge opposite has a central, separate rivet still in place. There is no decoration on the reverse. The object is T-shaped consisting of a long bar D-shaped in cross-section with a short arm (triangular in cross-section) projecting from the centre of one long edge.
