Description:  A small silver gilt badge or mount cast into the form of a five-petaled rose flanked by antlers. Extensive gilding remains on the front of the badge, covering the antlers and cross hatched centre of the rose, but leaving the petals white. The back is plain, with clear file marks and the scar left by a soldered loop, probably of silver, but now lost. Dimensions: The badge is 13.7mm long by 15.3mm wide and is 2.1mm thick; it weighs 1.63g. Discussion: The piece appears to be a mount in the form of a livery badge. The rose appears to have been deliberately left silve…

A medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy sword or dagger chape. The item appears to be made from sheet copper alloy. A Medieval to Post Medieval lead alloy token of Powell type 7. The token is circular in plan and is undecorated on the reverse. The front is domed or convex; the surface is very worn and there are traces of vertical and horizontal lines forming a criss-cross pattern. Some crude lead tokens of late 17th century date are illustrated in Egan (2005: p170; fig 165). However, as the Devon item did not come from a dateable archaeological context, it can only be given a broad Medieval to Post Medieval date.
