Small fragment probably from the wall of a cast copper alloy vessel. The piece is an irregularly shaped piece of copper alloy, thickening towards one side. Three diverging raised ribs run from the thicker to the thinner side. 28.3mm long, 19.8mm wide and 5.3mm thick, it weighs 8.06g.
The material, proportions and width apart of the diverging ribs suggests this is part of a cast copper alloy vessel near the point a leg projected out, rather than part of a socketed axe.
Cast copper alloy vessels were widely used for cooking over open fires from c.AD 1200-1800, being only grad…

The Burgundian rulers were seen as friends of the English and this is the main reason that this type of foreign coin was allowed to circulate here. Possibly complete copper alloy sheet fitting, possibly a book fitting or pendant. The piece is formed of a main square plate with a loop to one side. The plate is domed with a raised but flat centre and angled sides; the back echoes the form as it is thin sheet throughout. In the centre of one edge of the square is a transverse loop. This is formed of a integral projection which has been bent forward then back to create a circular loop. The projection tapers in width towards the end which is cut off square suggesting it might be complete. The edges are chipped and in one place bent in…

A ceramic body sherd probably from a wheelmade glazed jug of Medieval date, c.1200 to 1500. The fabric appears relatively high fired with a mid to pale buff colour with a pale orange core. It has common (c. 25%) fine sand temper. the outer side has a dark brown surface with some shiny gloss, suggestive of worn and decayed glaze. The sherd weighs 5.25g and has highly abraded breaks on all sides. Too little survives to be sure of the form. The slightly orange shade to the fabric may suggest a local industry.
