The pendant is in the shape of a square topped shield, with straght top and convex sides meeting at a point at the bottom. From the middle of the top edge projects an integral tranverse loop. The back of the pendant is flat and the edges bevelled. The front of the pendant is decorated with a design of a white leopard lying to the left with tail and legs hanging down and with a seperate vertical element to the design visible at the base. A corroded and incomplete copper-alloy harness pendant of medieval date. The outline of the pendant is that of an 'elaborate quatrefoil' (Ward Perkins' (1940, 118) Type V), that is, with pointed protrusions between the four semi-circular lobes. Centrally placed on the top edge of the upper semicircle would have been a suspension loop, but this is lost with only a small stub remaining. The front is decorated with an indented design of a large capital lombardic M with a crown above. Medieval cast gilt copper alloy harness pendant in the form of a square-topped shield with the arms of three lions passant gardant, the Royal Arms of England first adopted by the Plantangenet kings of England in the late 12th century. The suspension loop has been bent back and has iron corrosion product within it. Some gilding remains on the front and back of the pendant. Read (2016) illustrates a similar pendant with the Royal Arms of England from north-west Dorset on p.58, no.409, which is dated from the 14th century.

The pendant was originally quatrefoil in shape with lobed knops projecting outwards from the cusps between the lobes.
