Copper alloy medieval openwork dagger chape, missing its backplate. The chape is almost V-shaped with a roundel terminal at its bottom and an indented top edge. Either side of a central midrib is an openwork design in the form of a 4mm diameter hole above a roughly 10x2mm hole above a 1.5mm diameter hole. The indented top edge extends to a traingular projection at its midpoint. 15th century. Cf LMMC fig.87 no.II.

Either side of a central midrib is an openwork design. To the left side as you look at it the design is of a trefoil balanced on a rectangular opening 12mm long and 2mm wide. To the right of the midrib is a trefoil with a shorter stem and further down a tiny hole.
