Medieval copper alloy pendent loop with tiny bar-mount attached. It measures 21mm in width and is 18.4mm long (including bar-mount 22.5mm). It weighs 1.50g. The pendent loop is diamond shaped, with a knop on three corners and an axis bar in place of the other. The axis bar is slightly narrowed and the frame either side has a slight knop flanking it. The bar-mount is max.3.6mm wide and a tiny rivet is still in situ. The part that would have attached to the belt is 4mm long. Pendent loops found in London (Dress Accessories 1991) date from the late 13th to the 14th century. No exact para…

Tiny Medieval copper alloy swivel, measuring 18.53mm in length and weighing 0.86g. It comprises two loops, one of which is D-shaped (8.62x7.68mm, internal 5.54x5.84mm) with a circular hole in the straight edge, which is actually pointed-oval in shape (6.48x4.02mm). This is the loop that swivels. The second loop is circular (6.95mm diameter, internal 4.09mm) on an oval-sectioned, triangular-shaped base (4.45x3.02mm). From this projects the 1.6mm diameter rivet which passes through the hole in the first loop and is secured with a head 3.62mm in diameter. Swivels probably had divers…
