Medieval iron arrowhead of the Bullet-headed type (Borg, A; 1991, 'Arms and Armour', in Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum Medieval Catalogue Part 1, fig.23 nos.77-100). It measures 39.15mm in length and weighs 5.37g. The socket end is 11.08mm in diameter (internal diameter 7.19mm), which narrows but continues to the end of the arrowhead, 4.61mm wide. Incomplete Medieval iron probable Woodman's axehead with a damaged cutting edge, measuring 114.05mm in length and weighing 128.56g. It has an oval-sectioned socket, c.10x17mm with roughly triangular prjections above and below on both long sides of the socket. The bottom edge of the blade droops downwards. Oldish damage is apparent here. Its max.width is 47.68mm. Behind the socket is a square-sectioned solid projection, 13x14x14mm. Cf. LANCUM-BB00D3 from Kington St Michael, Wiltshire.

A circular fragment of a Medieval iron barrel padlock, consisting of the end plate containing fragments of two or three rectangular-sectioned spring strips. It measures 24.95x25.85mm and weighs 15.79g. A complete example with 'empty' perforations can be found illustrated in Egan (1998, 97; no. 251). 13th-15th century in date.

Incomplete Medieval iron prick spur, its sides broken and incomplete, its terminals missing. The goad is short and stout (16.3x8.5x6.3mm) and attached to the spur via a neck of two 2.5mm wide ribs. The sides of the spur are slightly pointed-oval in section and are incomplete, the longest now 34mm long. One break is recent, the other old. Measures 56.6mm in total length and weighs 7.19g. There is a good parallel from London, found in the Thames at London Bridge and thought to belong to the late 11th or early 12th century (Ellis in Clark 1995, no. 317).

Medieval iron forked head arrow, with a damaged socket edge and possibly damaged tips to the forked end. It measures 60mm in length and max.45.6mm in width. The socket end is 13.5mm in diameter (internal 10.3mm) and narrows to 10.4mm in diameter just before the forked end projects (the socket ends here). It weighs 17.85g. Medieval iron broadhead arrow, missing the tips of its barbs which would have originally reached below the bottom of the socket. It is 75.8mm in length and max.44.9mm in width. It weighs 23.26g. The socket is slightly damaged at the open end and runs to the tip. At the open end it is 11.8mm in diameter (internal 7.3m) and narrows to 7mm just below where the head starts. Broadhead arrows were used primarily for hunting, being so large they would cause considerable damage to an animal and weaken it through loss of blood. Badly corroded iron key, late medieval to early post medieval in date (circa 15th/ 16th century). The key is 119mm in length with an oval bow, measuring 39x32mm (internal 27x19mm). The bit is heavily corroded and in its present state measures 23x25x17mm. There is apparantly a double moulded collar on the stem just before the bit. The bow has a small internal projection at the top of the stem, and possibly also directly opposite at the other side of the bow. Comparable with examples in Salisbury & South Wiltshire Museum's drainage collection. Weighs 66.31g.

Corroding iron point, possibly a crossbow bolt. It is 129mm long, 63mm of which is semi-circular in section (8.5mm wide). This narrows a little and becomes circular in section (6.5mm diameter), expanding and flattening near the end to 9mm where it narrows to the point. It weighs 23.54g. Incomplete socketed iron arrowhead, medieval to post medieval in date, and comparable with examples in Salisbury and South Wiltshire Museum's Drainage collection dating to the 15th and 16th century. The arrowhead is 93mm in length and missing its (probable) long barbs either side of the socket, which continues half way along the blade. The hollow socket itself stops c.7mm before the blade begins. The socket end appears broken so may have been longer. The tip and edges of the blade are broken and the entire object is badly corroded. Max width 27mm. This was probably a hunting-type arrow…

Probably incomplete iron chain link in state of corrosion. The chain consists of two large oval links c.65x30mm. These are joined by three smaller links c.38x23mm all of which have corroded to each other or to the larger link that has another two links joining it (and corroded to it) in the opposite direction to the three. The only link that moves freely is the large one only joined to a single link. Possibly late medieval, but more likely to be post medieval, or later. Chains like this were used in wells or cooking, but equally this example may have has some other use. Corroded length…
