A Late Medieval to Early Post-Medieval (1450-1550) copper alloy candle holder, measuring 68.84mm in length and weighing 52.12g. The cup is octagonal in cross-section, flaring from a 17.26x15.54mm base to 24.87x23.63mm at the open end (which is circular in cross-section on the inside surface, 19.01mm diameter). An incomplete Medieval (1150-1400) copper alloy casket key with a circular bow (broken), measuring 39.34mm in length and weighing 6.64g. The stem is flat and oval in section, measuring 5.57x4.22mm. It is open at the end with traces of a white substance inside. The bow is 14.81mm in diameter (internal 9.86mm) and only two thirds remain. The bit is I-shaped (with one corner missing) and projects max.13.30mm. Egan dates this type of key from the late 12th century through to the late 14th century.

An incomplete cast copper alloy Medieval/ Post-Medieval (1200-1800) vessel leg from a ewer or skillet. The top of the leg is missing and the entire object has suffered for partial melting. The surviving leg measures 75.44mm in length, 30.73mm in max.width and 20.41mm in max.thickness. It weighs 114.53g. The leg is triangular in section at the base of foot, although the melting obscures this further up the leg. A fragment of the vessel itself may also survive at the top of the leg. A Medieval (1100-1300) copper alloy casket mount, measuring 42.36x6.67x5.75mm and weighing 2.3g. The mount consists of a D-sectioned shaft (3.95x2.25mm) with twisted decoration to the upper suface (it is flat to the reverse) and a flattened, splayed terminal at either end (0.99mm thick). To the reverse the metal appears to be folded back on itself. The twisted decoration is formed by diagonal ribs and grooves. Alternate grooves are further decorated with raised dots. An incomplete and probably Medieval (1066-1500) copper alloy D-shaped buckle frame with integral plate, missing the pin and an indeterminate amount of plate. It measures 18.99x21.17x5.04mm (internal 8.37x12.45mm) and weighs 4.06g. The outside edge is oval in cross-section and measures 3.12x1.99mm. The inside edge is 7.66x5.04mm in cross-section, with a old break just behind a 2.5mm diameter piercing for the pin. The edge here may also be split, suggesting a possible integral lower plate only. The buckle is extremely worn and pitted.

An incomplete Medieval (1200-1400) copper alloy annular brooch frame with a notch to the outside edge for the missing pin. It measures 24.40mm in diameter (internal 20.25mm) and weighs 1.05g. To one side of the notch the frame is flat (c.2.6mm wide and 0.82mm thick), to the other it is circular in cross-section ( 1.65mm diameter). Read (2001, p.102) dates annular brooches with a narrowed frame for restricting the pin to the 13th and 14th century.

An incomplete Medieval (1200-1400) copper alloy annular brooch frame with constriction for the missing (iron) pin. It measures 26.53mm in diameter (internal 20.55mm) and weighs 2.45g. The frame is slightly angled outwards on the underside. To the upper side it is decorated with five equi-distant transverse ridges. Where the sixth should be the frame is constricted with a patch of iron corrosion. Read (2001, p.102) dates annular brooches with a narrowed frame for restricting the pin to the 13th and 14th century.

The outside edge, which is flat to the underside, has four moulded knops on the upper edge. Similar buckle frames from London (Egan & Pritchard, 1991; p.73) date between 1230 and 1450.

An incomplete Medieval/ Early Post-Medieval (1350-1650) copper alloy double-oval buckle frame, missing one loop and its pin. It measures 24.02x41.07mm (internal loop 11.10x31.67mm) and weighs 11.48g. The outside edge is decorated with a band of diagonal grooves on both its inside and outside edges. Whitehead (2003) illustrates a comparable buckle (p.52, no.288) which he dates as mainly circa 1350-1650.

An incomplete Medieval (1200 - 1400) copper alloy oval buckle frame with ornate outside edge, missing its pin. It measures 18.31x25.13x4.49mm (internal 10.95x20.61mm) and weighs 3.6g. The bar is narrowed and offset with a rounded moulding at either end. The outside edge has a pair of raised ribs either side of the triangular notched lip at the centre. This is the thickest part of the frame. Egan & Pritchard (1991; p.73, fig.44) date oval buckle frames with ornate outside edges between 1200 and 1400.

A Medieval (1250-1450) copper alloy sheet metal strap-end, folded widthways. It measures 36.15x35.74x4.90mm and weighs 11.7g. The backplate is plain with a rivet hole (c.1.6mm diameter) in each corner at the open end. The front plate has a crenellated edge, with a cut-out crescent at the centre and a cut-out V to either side. The rivet hole is below the centre of the V. one rivet survives intact. Comparative examples in Egan and Pritchard (1991) date from the late 13th to the middle of the fifteenth century. Cf nos.578 to 587.

An incomplete and squashed Medieval (1350-1450) copper alloy double oval buckle frame, missing its pin and almost one loop of the frame. It measures 28.16x24.30mm (internal surviving loop c.10.67x18.31mm) and weighs 2.8g. Examples of this type of buckle frame from London (Egan and Pritchard 1991 nos.331 to 342) date from the second half of the fourteenth to the second half of the fifteenth century, but as the form persists a later date cannot be ruled out.

Obverse: Heater shield of three lions passant (England) within three concentric arcs of small pellets Reverse: Dimidiated fleur-de-lis and castle on field of pellets Date: 2nd half 13th century Reference: Salisbury Museum has another example of this jetton see SMMC 3, 217 no.4 . The fleur de lis and castle device is thought to be a badge of Poitou, see Mitchiner p.153 and Barnard pl. IV, no.5.
