Treasure Case 2017 T1133: Medieval Finger Ring Description: A gold medieval 'stirrup-shaped' finger ring with a blue stone setting (AD c.1200-c.1300). The hoop of the ring is is broadly circular in shape and D-shaped in cross-section (flat on the inside edge). The bezel and shoulders are broadly triangular in shape with bevelled inner edged. An incomplete copper alloy possibly medieval finger ring (AD c.1100-c.1300), missing roughly half of its hoop. Overall, the ring measures 21.5mm long, 13.4mm wide and 5.6mm thick. It weighs 1.42g. The object is formed from three flat rectangular plates, each measuring c.7.6mm long, 5.6mm wide and 1.6mm thick, connected to each other by slightly narrowed and thinner strips which have a flat D-shaped cross-section. A copper alloy medieval (AD c.1350-c.1400) finger ring. The ring is bent out of shape, probably as a result of ploughing, and now is broadly triangular in shape. Overall, it measures 21.4mm long, 16.9mm wide and 4.3mm thick. It weighs 1.16g. The ring is formed from a rectangular strip of copper alloy sheeting, measuring 4.3mm by 0.9mm. A copper alloy medieval to post-medieval (AD c.1400-c.1600) finger ring. Overall, the ring measures 22.9mm long, 19.6mm wide and 3.9mm thick. It weighs 1.42g. The hoop is sub-oval, with an angular outer edge. It is rectangular in section and varies in width (1.6-2.3mm) and thickness (0.8-1.4mm). The hoop widens to a double rectangular bezel with a slight constriction between the two elements. Each bezel has a central oval/sub-rectangular recess one of which retains a crystal or glass fragment. A similar example on the database is YORYM-8AF4AE.

A silver-gilt late medieval to early post-medieval 'iconographic' finger ring. The band is complete but misshapen, with a bi-faceted bezel. The band is largely D-shaped in cross-section measuring 1.75mm (d) and 4.20mm (w) at its narrowest point. The bezel is triangular in cross-section, thus creating two facets which are decorated with engraved, hatched triangles.
