Cast copper alloy stud or mount of probable medieval date (1200-1400). The mount is relatively small and is probably from a piece of harness or more likely from a piece of decorative furniture. The head of the stud is near circular in plan and D shaped in cross section. It has an abraded and corroded surface mid-green coloured surface patina. The remains of a gilt surface is present although this is poorly preserved. The head is decorated with a cast design - although worn - it is probably floral in pattern consisting of a central pellet around which eight annulets are evenly arranged…

A heavily worn and very polished medieval penny of Edward I (1272-1307). The mint and coin sub-type cannot be identified due to the polished condition which seems deliberate and contemporary with loss. Such augmentation might suggest that this coin was a touch piece or significant for some reason - now lost. From what remains of the bust a date in the period 1301-1310 can be suggested due to the bi-foliate type of crown. Obverse: Crowned head facing, the crown has a high central lis, bi-foliate side fleurs and globular ornaments, the drapery is formed of wedges and there is no evi…
