An incomplete copper-alloy buckle of medieval date, c.AD 1250 - 1400. Meols Type 10. The buckle is a single looped oval with a narrowed and offset bar and ornate outer edge. Two prominent knops flank two smaller knops with raised collars where they join. The central recesses would have acted as a rest for the pin. The pin no longer remains. The metal has a mid-green patina and is in fair condition. The buckle is 21.5mm long, 24.7mm wide, 3.7mm thick and weighs 2.9g. The opposite end is open, though joined with a central rivet. The sides of the plates are broadly parallel. The upper surface of one plate is decorated with a shallowly incised triangle flanked by pellets. The metal has a mid-green patina and is worn. The buckle is D-shaped with a steeply angled outer curved edge which tapers to either end, narrowing to rounded knops.
