A Medieval Irish silver cut halfpenny of Henry III, AD 1216-1272. Voided long cross coinage dates from AD 1247-1279. This coin dates from AD 1251, when dies were sent from London to Dublin, through to AD 1254 when the mint was closed. The obverse shows a forward facing crowned bust, cinquefoil to the right of the bust, with sceptre in triangular field. The obverse legend reads [HEN]RI./CVS R/E[X III]. The reverse legend reads DAV/I O[N.../.../...]. The reverse shows a voided long cross with three pellets per quarter. Silver medieval penny, probably Edward IV, mint: Dublin (possibly Spink 6373), minted c. ?1473-?78. The coin has been heavily clipped and none of the outer circle (inscription and initial mark) survives. The coin is slightly bent however the condition of wear on the coin is very good.
