Copper alloy brooch fragment. Probably the lower bow from a large headstud brooch, Mackreth type Headstud 3.a or 5.a (depending on whether the lost pin was sprung or hinged). The mid to lower bow bears about eight rectangular cells apt to receive enamel, though no trace of colorant appears. The bow tapers gently to a drum-shaped pedestal foot with an annulus in its base. An incomplete copper-alloy late Iron Age to early Roman looped toggle fastener. The toggle has a semi circular loop, 20.9mm wide, projecting from one long side of a cylindrical body. This body is 16.9mm in diameter, decorated with two incised circumferential bands and has a conical terminal with a small apical knop. One end of the body has broken away to reveal the hollow interior of the casting.

It has a sub-circular or slightly oval upright collar terminal 13.7mm wide, 12.1mm tall and 4.8mm thick. From one side of this projects a triangular-section upper ring, with a flat inner and an angled outer. The base has a series of vertical lines moulded into it which may be a relic of the moulding process. A fragment of a copper-alloy late Iron Age brooch of a possible Kragenfibel rosette type (Mackreth, 2011, pg 28). It is very corroded, making typogology difficult. The wing shape suggests a coil spring, although missing, and the bow seems to have a seperate plate, which is mostly corroded away. It is decorated with longnitudinal lines. The reverse is flat, with a small D shaped bow. It appears similar to examples in Mackreth, 2011, pg 19, plate 16, 5799, 5807, 13755 Length: 28.86mm Width: 18.57mm Weight: 5.80g

The bow has a flat cross sectional profile and is lenticular in shape, expanding to a maximum width of 8.5mm at the lower end before tapering sharply towards the foot which has largely broken off. The bow is decorated with a double row of punched dots along both lateral margins.

The body is baluster-shaped, the centre of the object is composed of two rounded expansions with a groove between, which taper before expanding into two discoidal terminals. A probable Iron Age to Roman copper-alloy bead dating to circa 800 BC-AD 410. It is broadly circular in plan, with no evidence of decoration. It is dark brown in patina with some pitting and corrosion.  Diameter: 12.30mm; Height: 8.40mm; Weight: 4.23g. Beads are problematic to date without secure contextual information as they have been found in contexts from the Bronze Age to the end of the Early Medieval period.

An incomplete copper-alloy brooch of late Iron Age to early Roman date, c. 100 BCAD 100. Uncertain type. The brooch comprises a rectangular plate with a narrowed elongated trapezoidal foot to one end and an integral coiled spring to the other. The circular sectioned spring extends from the centre of one edge of the plate. An incomplete copper-alloy harness fitting terret ring of Iron Age to Roman date, c.100 BCAD 150. Uncertain Type. The fitting comprises a sub-circular main ring with a double leaf-style skirt. Plain circular collars are present to either side of the skirt from which the main ring extends. The terret survives only as a fragment and presents a curved D-shape bar with a raised moulding that terminates in a won break. An incomplete copper alloy fob dangler dating to the Iron Age to Roman period (c. 200 BC- AD 100). The object consists of a flat ring that is mostly complete. Within and integral to the ring is an open triskele pattern of which one of the three arms is missing. In the centre of the triskele projects an integral bar that is cylindrical in shape and at the top of which is an open loop for attachment. The loop has a diameter of 16.4mm. A cast copper alloy strap fitting  of Iron Age or Roman date, roughly circular in shape, with a d-shaped cross section. The surfaces are slightly pitted and abraded; and shows sign of wear on the interior edge, potentially from an attachment to a larger piece. It is 20.55mm in width, 17.47mm in length and weighs 10.78g. Larger examples of copper alloy strap fittings like this are  sometimes identified as beads or rings or scabbard suspension fittings (i.e. BH-11AEC2 WILT-04E485, SUR-A477DB)
