An incomplete copper alloy Colchester one piece brooch dating from the Late Iron Age to Roman period (c. AD 25-60).
The brooch survives as the entire bow, left of the spring, and foot, and part of the catchplate. The right of the spring and pin are missing. The head of the brooch possesses two short bi-lateral wings which have a total width of 12.20mm. These wings are rectangular when viewed from the front of the brooch, and narrow triangular when viewed from the top. An incomplete copper alloy tankard handle of the later Iron Age or early Roman period (BC150-AD100).
The object is roughly T shaped with a small section of a loop at its base. The arms of the cross section slant slightly to the centre where there is an incised groove. Near the end of the arms there is a small hole where a pin or nail would have attached the handle to the vessel. The arms are flat on the reverse, curving down to a shaft with a large knop just above the crown of the loop where only part of one side remains.
Due to corrosion there is no decoration visible on the surface…

Copper alloy brooch fragment. Foot and the stub of the catch plate from a bow brooch, probably a Colchester brooch, with a bow which is rounded in front and lightly facetted behind, and a probably fretted or perforated catch plate with ?round holes and with curved setting out lines on one side of the catch plate. Possibly Mackreth type C 3.3a. This would have been an unusually large brooch when complete. Suggested date: Late Iron Age to Early Roman, 20-60

Description: This unit was struck for Cunobelin and is of the hunting dog type.
Obverse: CVN in central panel; rosette with centrl pellet above.
Reverse: Dog left. There appears to be an additional pellet between the dog's tail and its haunches, compared to the example in ABC.

A lead possible spindle whorl which probably dates from the Iron Age date, about 800 BC - AD 50. If it is a spindle whorl, it is of Walton Rogers Form C1 which has no flat faces and curved sides. The central perforation is 8.4mm which is at the larger end of the range suggested by Walton Rogers for Iron Age spindle whorls (4-8mm). The height of the object is 18.9mm, the diameter 22.6mm, and the weight is 48.4g. It has a white patina. There is some damage to one end.

A worn, copper alloy toggle of late Iron Age to early Roman date (c 100 BC - AD 100).
The object has two sub-globular terminals, one 11.17mm in diameter and the other 10.54mm in diameter, connected by a short bar with a sub-circular cross section (6.33mm diameter). There are remnants of the collars that exist at the junction of the sub-globular terminals and the bar, though these have largely been worn away. The object has a largely light green patina.
