An incomplete copper-alloy enamelled strap fitting of late Iron Age to Roman date, c. AD 40-80. The strap fitting is oval with a D-shaped section and a chequerboard design on the upper surface. The resulting cells are infilled with alternating red and yellow enamel. The reverse of the fitting includes two projections with centrally facing worn terminals which may be the remains of a loop. A complete cast copper alloy strap union of Taylor and Brailsford's (1985) Type 1 of late Iron Age to early  Roman date. The object has an openwork plate comprised of opposed convex crescents which join at their tips with a rounded opening at the centre created from their respective concave edges. Late Iron Age to Early Roman copper alloy strap loop or slide. The rectangular outer face has a stepped circumferal border within which are three impressed circular hollows, 5mm in diameter with a depth over 1mm. In the bottom of one of the hollows is a remnant of red matrial, possibly enamel. The hollows may be a later addition. On the reverse of this plate, a sub-triangular loop extends longitudinally from the centre. The loop is partially concreted and infilled with brown non-magnetic material. Dates to between c100 BC and c200 AD. Length 19mm, width 13mm, thickness 15mm, weight 8.34g.
