A copper alloy bucket mount, in the form of a bulls head. The mount is moulded as one piece and starts with a fixing at the top, a circular fixing with a central hole for the handle of the bucket to attach to. The inside diameter of this is approximately 6mm. Under this is the bulls head. Firstly there is a pair of curved horns, each terminating in a knop, which curve away from the plane along which the bucket would sit, perhaps 20mm high, producing a very 3D effect. Between the horns is a ferrous deposit. The head of the bull is wide and hemispherical in cross section (being…

A copper alloy incomplete probable mount dating from the Iron Age. It appears to have been sub triangular in shape originally. It is in two pieces that have been glued together. The front of the mount is slightly convex and is decorated with a spiral forming a circular roundel with a double spiral in the centre. The object is bright green and a reddish brown colour, the contrast seeming to follow the pattern and highlight it. It is not clear whether this is differential corrosion or whether the reddish areas were originally enamelled. There does not appear to be enamel surviving now. …

Copper alloy mount, dating from the late Iron Age to Roman period. It is symetrical in design but one end has broken. In the centre is a rectangular plate which has a raised central ridge giving it a V-shaped cross section. In the middle of each long side there is an arm which extends touwards. They start off bulbous then narrow half-way along before expanding slightly at the terminal. They have a flat terminal with a semi-circular loop. One of these loops has broken off. The remaining one has a rivet through the hole so it is likely they were used to attach the mount. On the revers…

Cast copper alloy and iron object, possibly a finial of a firedog. The object shows a bull head with protruding ears and a narrow muzzle. The head rests atop a cylinder that has an iron rod in the centre; sharply curving spikes form a crest running down the back of the head and the cylinder. The object is highly decorated. Located on either side of the crest are vertical ridges composed of small squares. This motif also runs along the underside of the head, perpendicular to the vertical ridges and meeting them on either side. The head has two curving, sturdy horns, and just below each…
