A complete copper-alloy Roman terret ring of late Iron Age to Early Roman date, circa 100BC-100AD.  The terret is of the 'simple' type. It is D-shaped, comprised of a subrectangular basal strap bar flanked by lentoid shaped collars. A loop, trapezoidal in cross section, extends to either side of the collars, narrowing in diameter with the thinnest section directly opposite the strap bar.  The object has a well developed green usrface patina, and shows wear in a speckled pattern. There are also straight lines visible.  Measurements: Length (external): 41.…

An incomplete copper-alloy (bronze) cast horse harness fitting or strap distributor, dating from the late Iron age to the early Roman period ( c.50BC-AD50). The object comprises three connected openwork trefoil rings (of which two survives intact) and a probable central motif of a horses head projecting 90 degrees from the centre of the object. The complete rings have an internal diameter of 9.7 mm and 8.8 mm. There are faint signs that the horse's head is decorated with ears and a mane comprised of incised herringbone grooves, and probably a split mouth. Much of the …

A incomplete enamelled harness fitting of probable late Iron Age dating (100 BC to 100 AD). The harness fitting is an irregular shape, almost comma shaped, with a rounded head and a squared tail. The upper surface is flat, with five panels of enamel decoration. The rounded head has three enamel panels, each a lentoid or pointed oval shape, creating a triskele shape between them. The remaining two panels of enamel are sub triangular in shape, continuing down the length of the 'comma' tail'. The edges are bevelled.  The reverse of the tail has a curved recess …

A copper alloy probable harness fitting dating to the Late Iron Age/Early Roman period circa 100 BC to 100 AD.  The object has a slight curvature in profile. The upper face is slightly convex and the reverse is flat. It consists of a circular perforated loop at one end. This projects at 90 degrees from a larger broadly oval shaped loop. Below the oval loop is a triangular loop that then extends to a circular loop. Extending from the circular loop appears to be a further now incomplete triangular loop. This could suggest that originally the circular loop was once in…

It measures 40.5 mm in length, is 32.3 mm wide and a maximum of 7.0 mm thick. It weighs 15.7 g. The strap distributor is a dark green colour with an even surface patina.
