Copper alloy brooch, Colchester type. Missing pin and half the spring; damaged catchplate; corroded. The spring has a separate axis bar and four surviving turns. The wings are flat with no surviving decoration. A flattened ?rivet terminal is visible on the back of the bow just in front of the wings - this seems to be the end of the forward hook which holds the spring chord and is not drawn from the top of the wings but goes into the top of the bow.
