An incomplete spearhead with the basal part of the socket missing along with part of the blade on one side. The base of the circular socket is also missing. The blade is flat and leaf-shaped, and has a central rounded midrib that continues for over half its length. The form of the socket and other details have been obscured by the recent treatment of the spearhead, but the leaf-shape and central rib suggests a date of Iron Age, Roman or Early Medieval.

A complete iron spearhead of Iron age date (700 BC - AD 43). The spearhead is an elongated leaf shape which starts broad and flat and tapers to a point. The object has an elongated hollow circular socketed end and no clear evidence of a rivet is present. The surface is heavily corroded and both sides have a central raised midrib. Whilst similar curved out lower parts of blades leaving projecting points are known on some Anglo Saxon spears (e.g. Swanton's typology), the socketed end , given that it is not overlapping but cast as a hollow circular socket, is more typical of Iron age …

Iron spearhead. Wrought iron with a butted seam straight socket and a flat leaf shaped blade with shoulders set at circa 45 degrees to the socket; the thickness of the blade diminishes rapidly from where it joins the socket, and it is only circa 3mm thick at its surviving end. Heavily corroded and lightly bent. The mass indicates almost all metal formerly present has been lost, and what remains is mainly rust. The form of the object appears to resemble a spearhead, and the finder kindly observes that it is close to that of Late Iron Age examples on display at the North Lincolnshi…

Three iron spear heads, thought to be of Iron Age date. One small head and two larger ones. All in fairly good condition - one with a small amount of wood in one socket. Treasure report from Rachel Seagar-Smith (Wessex Archaeology): A rectangular post-built structure F245 defined by at least six postholes was located in area A. The structure measured 5.00m by 3.60m across and was aligned NNE to SSW. The postholes were tightly packed with stones and contained the remains of square section posts measuring up 0.20m by 0.40m across that had clearly been burnt in-situ. A cache of th…
