A small irregular fragment of gold sheet metal or foil, 12mm long by 7.9mm wide and 0.3mm thick. Both sides are undecorated aside from a line scored along one edge, which may represent marking out for cutting. It is unclear whether this object represents a fragment of a finished item or is an offcut from goldworking.

A ribbon or thin bar of gold 73 mm long, 9 mm wide and 1.25 mm thick with originally a curved profile on an arch of an approximate diameter of 80-90 mm, but sharply bent 43 mm from the squared off end. The object appears to have been cut from of a larger object. The squared off end is probably the original end of the end, the other is less regularly finished off. The object is relatively poorly finished compared to other prehistoric gold objects and has ample evidence for hammering and working across all surfaces. Scientific analysis across the surface of the object suggest…

Treasure reference 2017 T1054: a pellet of molten gold. The pellet is an irregular oval sphere. One side is smooth and rounded, while the other is more irregular. This may suggest that the gold had been poured into a pellet mould, such as those known for the production of coins in the late Iron Age. The weight of the globule is 5.4g, which equates to the mass of a typical late Iron Age gold stater.
Discussion
This gold pellet may be indicative of an industrial process having taken place in the vicinity, such as the melting down of gold coins into pellets ready for the striki…

A pellet or ingot of gold weighing 1.27g. The rounded pellet itself is not diagnostic as to date and thus was not submitted as potential Treasure.
A similar pellet, found nearby, was recorded as SUR-6020EC . An Iron Age date is possible in view of finds of coins of this date from the general area.

A fragment of an ingot of light brown/yellow gold. The fragment has a rounded rectangular section and bears many hammering facets, mainly on the slightly convex upper face. There are a number of facetted hollows, particularly on the lower, concave surface, perhaps from its being held in a vice. Both broken ends are left rough.
Such objects are difficult to date. And wide date range of Iron Age to early medieval seems reasonable.

A complete, rounded droplet of gold or gold alloy, probably casting waste. The droplet is relatively smooth, with a porous, unworked surface. It measures 8.6mm long, 7.6mm wide and 5.4mm thick, and weighs 3.3g.
Conclusion:
An Iron Age date is possible for this object, since five Iron Age gold coins, all quarter staters and mostly from the mid-first century BC, have been found in surrounding fields (SUR-4EF070, SUR-95F112, SUR-F84295, SUR-960B33, SUR-BC0D8C). However, the undiagnostic nature of the pellet itself means that it cannot be securely dated as over 300 years old. As suc…

Beneath the bowl there were ninety or more gold coins, plus three saucer-shaped ingots: one in gold, one in silver alloy and one predominantly of copper (Chadburn 2006, hoard 41, "Hunstanton I"). The ingots were apparently melted down after discovery. Above the bowl were three brooches and a torc fragment (ibid.). Details vague.

The sub-rectangular fragment has been chopped from a bar of ovoid section with a chisel; length, 8 mm; width, 10 mm. This simple form of ingot is common to many periods and although found in the vicinity of the gold strip fragment ref. 2003T9 and Iron Age staters it cannot be precisely dated without a secure archaeological context.
Surface metal analysis conducted at the British Museum indicated an approximate gold content of 74%. The fragment weighs 4.57 grams.

This is a small ingot of gold, approximately circular and large 'button-sized' in plan view, but with slight circumference irregularities. The ingot has a convex under-surface, with marked surface irregularities. This indicates the gold was poured into a small dished mould 7.0-7.5mm deep, possibly clay, sand or stone, and solidifying to take on the reverse contours of the rough and cracked surface. The upper surface is flatter, though domes slightly at the edges, with slight upper surface concavities. In cross-section, the ingot is D-shaped. Dendritic structures in the metal, created …

Rod shaped gold ingot with a circular section. One end is complete, flat and has a very slightly splayed rim. The other has been broken by hammering a dent and then breaking across the thinnest place. The break is rough and shows there are numerous air pockets within the ingot. Metal content 'surface': 81% gold, 16% silver, the remainder being copper.
Discussion: Ingots approximating this form have been discovered dating to the Bronze and Iron Ages. Non-destructive analysis of the surface metal content of the bar shows the gold content of the ingot is 81%. This roughly approxima…

A small fragment from a possible gold ingot, this object is difficult to date with any certainty without more precise information from the context from which it came, if any. It is probably of prehistoric date and was found in an area well known for both its Neolithic and Early Bronze Age monuments and a series of Iron Age settlements.
As such, this item is more than likely a prehistoric object, older than 300 years, and is therefore probably Treasure.
