The find comprises of 42 Iron Age gold coins, all inscribed staters of Cunobelin of the Eastern British (North Thames) coin producing region (traditionally associated with the tribes referred to as the Catuvellauni and Trinovantes). All can be dated to the period AD 8-41 and are inscribed with the name of the ruler Cunobelin and the mint of Camulodunum (modern Colchester).
Six different coin types are represented within the 42 coins, with some variations within each type. Coins 11 and 20 are a variety of type 2774 with a x or + after the obverse inscription …
