An incomplete Iron Age to Roman Colchester one-piece brooch (AD 25-60). The pin, spring mechanism and part of the catch-plate are missing. It retains part of forward facing hook at the top of the head which would have held the external chord. The stub of the integral spring and pin survives at the back of the head, below the hook. The wings are minimal, sub-rectangular and flat and have an overall width of 9.6mm. One wing appears to be incomplete.
