A cast copper-alloy unidentified mount of probable Iron Age to Roman date 100BC - 100AD. The object is incomplete, with a discoidal base and a hollow sub-circular projection with an abraded break. The outside of the projection is slightly ridged. Emerging from the underside of the base is an incomplete iron shank of possibly rectangular section. In appearance, the mount is superficially similar to a terret with a collared base, but it is definitely not a terret. The closest parallel that could be found was a linch pin, and this object may be an incomplete terminal though the ident…

Iron Age copper alloy La Tène III type, Nauheim derivative type brooch from the 1st Century BC-1st Century AD. The brooch is cast in one piece with a sprung mechanism but is missing the pin. There appears to be an iron concretion inside the turns of the spring. Two turns of the spring survive. The bow is very slender, undecorated and tapers to the integral catchplate which is crumpled probably by post-depositional processes but intact. There is no foot-knob on the end of the bow. The brooch has a dark green patina. A similar example can be seen in Hattatt, 2000, pp290, Fig. 149. It is…
