A fragment of a copper-alloy La Tene I brooch dating to the period 400 to 300 BC. At one end, there extends downwards a small portion of a circular-section stem which would originally have become the integral spring and pin. This extends to the bow which comprises a D-sectioned oval plate, the upper surface of which is decorated with a series of ribs and grooves. At the other end, there extends downwards a small portion of the foot, which coils back on itself and appears to be decorated with three horizontal grooves. An incomplete cast copper-alloy bow brooch of Langton Down type dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman period, c. AD 25-60. The pin, the lower bow andcatchplate are missing. It posssesses a fragmentary cylindrically-winged head which conceals the coils of the spring mechanism. The head extends to a 'D'-sectioned tapering bow decorated with multiple moulded longitudinal ridges. The brooch measures 22mm in length, 18mm in width at the head and 9mm in width at the bow.A similar brooch is published by Mackreth (2012)vol. II, p. 23, pl. 20, no. 11743.
