An incomplete and worn Colchester brooch of Roman date. It is missing half of the spring, the pin, and lower half of the bow due to old breaks, all surfaces suffering from extensive post-depositional corrosion. The brooch has small, flat rectangular wings, separated on their back face by an integrally cast spring, of which three coils, half of the axis bar, and half of the spring chord survive. It has a sandy grey/brown fabric, fired red/brown at the surfaces and containing multiple burnt flint inclusions. It measures 31.53mm in length, 30.25mm in width, 17.27mm in thickness, and 13.43g in weight. This sherd is of later Prehistoric date, perhaps c.800 BC-43 AD.
