An incomplete copper-alloy lipped terret ring of Late Iron Age to early Roman date. It comprises a flat bar that is rectangular in section and is mostly missing due to old breaks. The bar projects from the centre of a moulded vertical collar that is disc shaped in form and from which extends the surviving sections of the loop. Towards the old breaks is a lip-shaped moulding formed from two outwardly projecting discs separated by a deep groove and with flat back/inner face on the loop. Between the bar and lipped mo…

A complete copper-alloy Roman Langton Down brooch of Nertomarus type, c.25-65 AD. The spring casing is cylindrical in form and holds in place a spring and copper-alloy pin that tapers to a sharp point, partially bent due to post-depositional damage. The casing itself has decoration comprising double vertical grooves at each end and along its upper edge. Where the bow and spring casing meet there is moulded decoration consisting of a central triangle with three circular indentations, either side of which are scroll-shaped motifs, all of which seem to extend from the bow. The bow is rect…

The remains of five coils survive, extending at one end to an integral pin that is cylindrical in form and tapers to a point. The entire fragment measures 16.13mm in width, 26.54mm in length, 2.15mm in thickness/diameter at pin (7.93mm at spring), and 3.86g in weight. This is probably an incomplete spring and pin from a Roman brooch. It is likely to be of Colchester or derivative type, perhaps dating …

An incomplete copper-alloy Birdlip brooch of Late Iron Age to Roman date. It is missing parts of the head, spring, pin, and catchplate due to old breaks. The head is semi-circular in form, missing its outer edges due to old breaks, and with extensive corrosion on its back face indicative of the now missing spring coil and pin. On its front face the head has moulded decoration comprising two central oval shaped mouldings, with single oval shaped transverse mouldings at the base of the head, and perhaps traces of a moulded collar or border, but this is uncertain due to the preservation o…

A very worn copper-alloy Iron Age unit of uncertain type, probably of the Trinovantes (possibly Dubnovellaunos?), c.50 BC-43 AD. The coin has a slightly dished profile and has very worn, corroded surfaces making close identification problematic. It is presumably a very worn copper-alloy unit, although it cannot be ruled out that the coin is a core from a plated copy of a silver or gold issue.
