The bead is cruciform, or quatrefoil, with a flattened central panel through which is a central rectangular aperture. The aperture would have accommodated an iron rod onto which the beads would have been threaded. The copper alloy forms an outer shell which is then filled with a core of ferrous material. In form, the artefact consists of a semi-circular shaft ending in a large, hemispherical terminal. The coin could also be a silver half unit, similar to ABC 1833 (Allen ZA type).

An incomplete Late Iron Age to early Roman (AD 20-80) copper-alloy Colchester one-piece brooch missing the spring, pin and catchplate. The wings are rectangular in cross section and only part of the forward facing hook remains. The bow tapers from 4.8mm to 1.4mm at the foot and is oval in cross section. The catchplate is damaged. The brooch is 41.1mm long, 6.7mm wide and 22.3mm thick. 3.06g. It has a brown colour with patches of a bright turquoise patina in places. The brooch is similar to WILT-025937 and BERK-B77E52.

A lead alloy probable spindle whorl possibly dating from the Iron Age, about 400 BC - AD 43. The whorl is sub-spherical with a flattened face top and bottom. This would fit into type B2 in the Coppergate classification system, a type that was mainly used in the Iron Age, but continuing into the 7th century. The central aperture is circular and has a diameter of about 6mm. This makes it more likely that the whorl is Iron Age in date (Walton Rogers, 2007, page 23 - 25). A copper alloy Iron Age harness fitting; a knobbed terret of Spratling's group IX dating from AD 1 - 150. The hoop is D shaped in section and is thicker at the base than at the top. It is decorated with three globular knobs evenly spaced round the hoop. Each has a collar and the outer face is grooved with a band of probably only three grooves across each knob. An incomplete copper alloy simple terret dating from the late Iron Age or early Roman period, about 100 BC - AD 100. The surviving part consists of part of the hoop which is circular in section, a projecting circular collar, and par of the cast-in-one bar, which is of rounded rectangular section and is slightly curved. The terret has a rough, light green patina. It is 46mm long, 41mm wide and 12.5mm wide. It weighs 20.29gm. The bar is longer than 27mm. Similar harness fittings can be found on the database; see for example references WAW-CC1F4C and LVPL-3F7290.

A copper alloy Late Iron Age to early Roman brooch, a Colchester brooch dating from AD 25 - AD 60. The spring and pin are missing. It has a broken loop on the back of the head to hold the spring. The remains of a forward hook for the external chord survives on top of the head. The wings are short, slender and plain. The bow is undecorated and oval in section. It tapers to a point at the foot. The catchplate does not survive. The brooch has a mid green patina. It is 57.73mm long, 9.97mm wide and 15.75mm thick. 5.25g.

The fabric is hard, rough textured and laminated, notable for its prolific angular, well sorted, quartz and mica inclusions giving the surfaces a gritty appearance. The fabric is dark grey to dark brown throughout. Local Pottery expert Chris Cumberpatch suggested that it could be East Yorkshire Quartz Fabric (pers. comm. 24/4/14).

A fragment of a platform decorated terret dating from the 1st century AD (1 - 100 AD). Only one platform from the terret survives. It is sub square in plan and flat in section, and is decorated with enamel. It sits above the hoop which is rounded in section. The design on the platform is of four lentoid petals arranged in a cross saltire on a red ground. Two opposing petals are filled with yellow enamel and the other two with blue. Description: A gold-alloy bracelet with loop terminals, Iron Age (c. 100 - 50 BC). The bracelet is comprised of two ropes plaited together, each rope is made up of two wires twisted together. Each terminal is formed of two loops. The outside surface of the terminals has been filled with a lower melting temperature gold-alloy containing approximately 16% more copper than the rest of the bracelet. A cast copper-alloy Iron Age linch pin terminal, which is the foot of the pin. The socketed part of the foot is broken, leaving only a shallow concave area. This would have extended into a larger socket which would have held the iron pin, which has long since corroded away. The exterior of the socket tapers to the terminal, where it curves forward and expands into a flat circular plate. The flat surface is decorated with a central recessed cell for enamel, with two concentric rings recessed for enamel round it. These are divided by bands of raised metal. Probably a fragment of a cast copper alloy coin; a potin issued by the Cantii tribe and probably dating from 100 BC - 35 BC. The coin is dished, with part of a head of Apollo visible on the convex face, but the design on the concave side is not identifiable. Compare Van Arsdell 106 - 139.
