This is a small ingot of gold, approximately circular and large 'button-sized' in plan view, but with slight circumference irregularities. The ingot has a convex under-surface, with marked surface irregularities. This indicates the gold was poured into a small dished mould 7.0-7.5mm deep, possibly clay, sand or stone, and solidifying to take on the reverse contours of the rough and cracked surface. In form, it comprises an oval shaped ring with an attachment bar on one longer side, whose margins are defined by two moulded collars. The head does not appear to be broken, but has two grooves, possibly to accommodate the wings and spring or hinge mechanism. Copper alloy ribbed bracelet fragment, possibly from a two piece bracelet of Middle – Late Iron Age date. The bracelet has a D-shaped cross section and is decorated with wide raised bands separated by recesses containing thin bands. The underside is plain. One of the ends is expanded and is composed of two perforated lugs with a central opening. It would seem likely that this fragment contained a hinge in order to open the bracelet. The other end is corroded. The curvature on the fragment suggests an original diameter of circa 45mm, which is somewhat small for a bracelet.
