Iron Age Silver unit of the "Monnaies-a-la-croix" type, c. 200-118 BC, Obverse: head with flamboyant hair, apparently facing left, traces of highly stylised face are perhaps present. Reverse: cross in high relief, sharply defined with a pellet in three of its angles and a device made up of angled lines in the fourth angle. These coins were produced in the Languedoc region of southern France in the second century BC and are, as such, usually attributed to the Volcae Arecomici (and/or Volcae Tectosages).
