Object type: LINCH PIN
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Cheshire West and Chester
Workflow stage: Published Find published
An Iron Age cast linch pin foot terminal of circular disc face, of copper alloy, roughly of 1st century BC-1st century AD date, similar to examples WMID720 and WAW-CEE943 in form on the database. The object is clearly broken and now consists only of the bulbous central section and the flattened disc-like head. oriented vertically and attached to the main body by a flaring neck. The inner part of the disc appears to have been decorated, but this has been corroded to illegibility. The main body is hollow. Linch pins like this one would have been used to secure the wheels of a chariot t…

Object type: BUTTON AND LOOP FASTENER
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Wakefield
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An Iron Age Button and loop fastener of cast copper-alloy, with some remaining enamel. The object consists of a central cast body recognisable as a single piece button and loop, though the loop is now broken and only two small stubs remain. The front is circular and has a circular, flat bottomed groove that probably incorporated enamel at one point, though this has been subsequently lost except for possible small traces. Only the central section, separated by another, smaller raised circle of copper-alloy, retains an amount of red material.

A copper-alloy Iron Age/Romano-British bucket mount in the shape of a bull's head. Object type: STRAP FITTING
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Cheshire East
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
A partial fragment of a possibly Iron Age (200 BC-AD 200 based on similar examples on database) strap fitting, similar to YORYM-686B90 and FAKL-19312B though less complete. The object appears to be half of a roughly bilaterally symmetrical piece of cast metal. The overall form appears to be of a stylised foliate nature, with thicker blade like spokes supporting roughly triangular spacers with concave circles enclosing a raised dome. The back is concave and appears to have two former attachment points, though any protrusions they may have supported are now broken away.

Object type: UNIDENTIFIED OBJECT
Broad period: IRON AGE
County: Cheshire West and Chester
Workflow stage: Awaiting validation Find awaiting validation
An unidentified piece of cast copper-alloy decoration, probably Iron Age or Roman. The entire piece is composed of swirling curvilinear shapes that are convex on the upper side and concave below. There are three main lobes it can be separated into; a 'j' shaped upper curve, and an 'r' shaped middle section whichconnects this to the final section which is a single loop circular spiral. A thin strip connects the 'j' to the spiral on the outer side. The piece is similar to NMS-E567C8 and LVPL172 in morphology, but appears more complete than either. Completeness is hard to assess, howe…
