Copper alloy escutcheon in the form of a human head of possible Iron Age or Roman date (c.100BC to 100AD). The face has distinctive lentoid eyes and a simple nose, with a short straight cut line for the mouth. There are also faint traces of mould line suggesting a hairline across the forehead and down the sides of the face.The back of the object is flat. Prof Martin Henig (pers comm) suggests this may be an applique from a bucket or similar. See NCL-41DE75 for a similar example. Length: 21.79mm; width: 15.25mm; thickness: 15.05mm; weight: 16.9g

Cast copper alloy, late Iron Age or early Roman, escutcheon or mount in the form of a swan or goose head. The object comprises a ring that is 25mm in diameter, 5.27mm thick with an internal diameter of 15.4mm.The mount takes the form of a swan or goose-head with the neck curved to create the loop from which the ring hangs.The bill of the bird rests on its "breast" which is crudely decorated with 4 parallel, V-shaped grooves. Total length (of both elements) 48mm; width of mount 11.44mm; thickness of mount 16.04mm.The object weighs: 20.2g.
