Cast copper-alloy brooch of late Iron Age date, c. 80 BC - AD 100. It is a one-piece brooch, however the springs are broken and bent out of shape. The bow shows a significant bend, and it is unknown whether this was intentional in the design or the result of post depositional damage. The bow is widest at the head and tapers in width to the remains of the foot and the catchplate. Here the bow splits into two and would have originally shown an intact perforated catchplate (as Hattatt, pg. 21, fig 7, no. 236). Length: 33.9 mm Width: 12.9 mm Thickness: 1.3 mm Weight: 3 g

Late Iron Age copper-alloy brooch of La Tene type 1-2 (c. 400 BC - AD 1). The spring mechanism which forms the wings is intact, and the bow is integrally attached through part of the spring mechanism. The bow is plain and the top has a distinct upward arch behind the juncture with the wings. The arch then turns downward to form a relatively straight bow. The bow is cylindrical in section and tapers in width to a narrow point. The end of the bow is bent at a right angle to its vertical plane and forms a slight hook at the pointed end. It is unknown if this bend was caused by post-depos…
