An incomplete cast copper-alloy unidentified object of probable Iron Age or Roman date, potentially a harness fitting or similar. The object consists a circular-sectioned 'handle' with a knopped end and collared midsection, at the terminal of which is a broadly rectangular flared element that is rather shovel-shaped in profile. The end of the latter is broken away in old damage. Preserved in fair condition with an even greenish patina, it survives to a length of 51.49mm, 1.32mm wide at the flared end and 14.23mm thick at the collared midsection of the handle. The 'Near Blythburgh' hoard.
Description: On the 10th of February 2019, Mr [NAME REDACTED] was detecting on cultivated land, recovering a relatively small-sized scattered Iron Age coin hoard from around a 10-15m square in the topsoil. In total, the group consists eight full staters and nine quarter-staters- one of the quarter staters being broken. This group were clearly originally deposited together as part of the same find and are to be known as the 'Near Blythburgh' hoard.

An incomplete cast copper-alloy and iron linch pin of Late Iron Age to early Roman date, c. 100 BC- AD 100. This is a 'hoof shaped' example, consisting a socketed circular-sectioned foot with a prominent transverse collar at its apex, which tapers and curves along its length to form a discoidal terminal. On the terminal itself is a raised circular border which creates an internal recessed area, though otherwise the linch pin is undecorated. A complete cast copper-alloy miniature 'votive' socketed axehead dating to the late Iron Age or early Roman periods, c. 200 BC-AD 100. The axe realistically takes the form of a Late Bronze Age socketed axe, demonstrating a moulded socket collar (though the socket itself is not rendered), thickset body and widely splayed blade. On one side of the axe head near the socket is a projecting circular loop, now clogged with ferrous corrosion product that may denote the remains of a suspension ring.
