An incomplete cast copper-alloy 'Alesia' style bow brooch corresponding to Edgar's type 21, dating to the Late Iron Age (c. 50-20 BC), La Tene phase D2. The brooch demonstrates a rolled head where the axis-bar and pin (now missing) would originally have been situated. Below this, the sub-triangular body of the brooch tapers towards the mid-point of the bow, decorated with three transverse collars. A complete cast copper-alloy strap fitting or fastening dating to the Late Iron Age or Early Roman period, c. 25-100 AD. The object consists of a circular-sectioned hoop with a projecting convex-topped stud affixed to one side via a circular-sectioned neck, which extends upwards perpendicular from the hoop itself. The sections of the hoop either side of this projecting stud as well as around the outer edge are markedly thinner than the sides, suggestive of use-wear in these areas. The object is variably preserved, with some parts developing encrustings of active corrosion and others w…

An incomplete cast copper-alloy terret ring of probable later Iron Age or early Roman date corresponding to Hutcheson's 'three-lipped' type, dating c. 100 BC-100 AD. The object would originally have been broadly 'D' shaped in plan view, though now only around 1/3 of the terret survives intact, with the rest missing in old breaks. It consists of around half the rectangular-sectioned offset strap bar, at the surviving edge of which there is a prominent disc-shaped collar. This serves to divide the strap bar from the broadly plano-convex surviving arm of the frame, which tapers steadily …

A complete copper-alloy brooch of La Tene III or Nauheim derivative type dating to the Late Iron Age or Early Roman period, c. 50 BC-50 AD. Projecting from the front of the spring, the bow (which itself is broadly lenticular in plan view and relatively straight in profile) tapers to its foot before expanding outwards from its reverse side to form a rectangular rearward-facing catchplate wit…
