An incomplete and warped cast copper-alloy Colchester one piece bow brooch of late Iron Age or Early Roman date likely c.15 BC - AD200. Description: The pair of stubby roughly rectangular wings flanking a central loop for a copper-alloy spring and iron axis bar remains only as a worn stubs. A very narrow near ovoid section bow tapers towards very thin, long and plain foot. The bow is heavily worn, abraded and warped. An incomplete cast middle to late Iron Age brooch, early 4th-2nd century BC. Description: The brooch is incomplete, and the spring and pin are entirely missing. The head comprises a vertically aligned flat sided pierced knop through which the axis bar would have passed. This bow, which is of roughly circular section and tapers towards the foot, where it loops upwards to a break which may, comparing to similar brooches of the type (e.g BH-CAC2F8) formed an openwork catch plate.
